The Crab

Have had a crabtastic day. Procrastinated most of the day from study for an exam on Monday. After an unsuccessful crabbing experience, I was inspired to paint. We only caught a ladycrab, so let her go. She was a little flustered.

Sneaky sneaky entry like I haven't been away or anything...

...Hello... (Slyly pokes her head up from under desk)....

Been a while, eh?

Well, have moved to Macleay Island, we've been here nearly four months, and I have hardly done any binding. I have managed to do some painting- joined the local arts centre. Even managed to sell two paintings, which is exciting! ...Not so excitingly the money went towards groceries, but an achievement none-the-less.

It's lovely having our own house, lots of space to do our own things.

So, a brief update on what's been happening: just before we left Newcastle sadly we lost our dear little ferret, Tuco. I have never felt that much pain before, not even when my horse got put down (that just felt surreal and only sunk in much later, but losing Tuco was completely devastating- he was so young and his death is still a mystery).

Since moving to the Island however, we have gained another life to our little family- a beautiful greyhound named Dougie. He is sweet, and we are quite guilty of believing him to be a near-perfect dog... doesn't bark, isn't a pain in any way, likes to just lay down wherever we are and be with us.

I have just finished my first semester of environmental science (management, really) and am absolutely loving it, but the more I learn about our world, the angrier I have been getting (or perhaps it is passion?). The ignorance of some people just drives me insane, even more so the fact that no matter what you can tell them, some people just will never listen or understand, or bother to research their arguments.

It's been a pretty quiet life on the Island (apart from one noisy neighbour), so not many excuses for not doing any bindery, but I am on uni break now, so that will change. :) I completed a book today that has been on the go for quite some time. I used a scarf I bought in Turkey (exorbitantly overpriced) to cover it- I really love how it turned out. Needs a little bit of trimming, but this will be a birthday present to myself.
